2015-07-18 – the quiet Sun

Today I tried to capture a transit of the ISS across the disc of the sun, but somehow I missed it, even though I started my series of exposures according to a GPS clock. So the only result I can show is the face of the quiet sun, with only small sunspots littered across.

Image taken with a Nikon D7000 using the 127mm f/8 apochromatic refractor with  Baader ND3.8 photographic solar film. Due to the early time of the transit the sun was still quite low in the sky (22° above the horizon), therefore the seeing was quite bad and reduced the sharpness of the image.
